MRO Motor & Generator

We’re dealing withmotor repair and rewind service for all types of medium voltage static and rotating equipment like Transformers, Motors and Generators equipped with the most machineries and we provide competitive edge in repair services.

Electric Motor Repair

Hygan Service Divisionis here to get your motor up and running again, whatever the size, power and/or application. Our expert provides electric motor repairs, maintenance and overhauls for all types of motors in a wide range of sectors and industries, on a contracted or emergency response basis.

Maximize uptime by accessing qualifiedtechnicians.

We’re dealing withmotor repair and rewind service for all types of medium voltage static and rotating equipment like Transformers, Motors and Generators equipped with the most machineries and we provide competitive edge in repair services, such as:

  1. LV and MV AC Induction motors includes squirrel cage, slip ring, synchronous induction motors
  2. AC & DC motors
  3. DC motors including traction, field coils and armatures
  4. AC Traction motors.
  5. Lifting magnets.
  6. Traction blower fan
  7. Rewinding

In some circumstances of unexpected failure, we shallserve you for 24/7 emergency repair, helpingyou in minimizing production downtime and have your motor back operating in short-of-timescale as possible.  And when it is required, we can also send our technicianto carry out decommissioning, removal the unit and transport it to our workshop, as well as installation and recommissioning afterthe repair.  In the case motors are unable to be removed from site, our site services team can carry out some repairs in situ.

Electric Motor Overhaul

A standard electric motor overhaul includes an initial equipment inspection and diagnosis, bearings replacement, a test run and report.

A sample motor overhaul work scope includes:

  1. Collection from site
  2. Inspect and record all relevant data from the nameplate
  3. Carry out electrical and mechanical check tests to verify motor condition and any reported faults, where possible
  4. Dismantle motor
  5. Clean and inspect all component parts
  6. Datum checks, including bearing journals and seatings, shaft extensions, shaft extension run out, shaft seal fits, commutator diameter, and brush surface length
  7. Repair or replacement of defect components and parts
  8. Steam cleaning, stove drying and varnishing of stator and rotor windings
  9. Rotating parts

If we detect the need for repair beyond the scope of the overhaul, these will be reported and a quotation provided. Upon approval, our experienced engineers will carry out the work on a standard or emergency basis in line with your requirements.

Services Type

Electrical Motor Testing & Diagnosis

We carry out extensive electrical and mechanical light-run testing of the overhauled assemblies using 415 to 1000V to rotate the motors, while taking measurements of vibration analysis and alignment checks. This is to ensure the serviced/overhauled motors meet a high-quality standard.

Additionally, during electric motor rewinds, we individually test all windings using Baker Test equipment to verify all electrical components for Megger (IR), resistance of connections, Hipot/Flash, interturn surge test, Polarization index, phase line-to-line, and line-to-ground testing.

Load testing can also be carried out either in house or in conjunction with our approved partners to fully test the motor and reassure the customer that the electric motor will perform on reinstallation. This is of particular benefit for critical assets or difficult to access locations.

A comprehensive test report is provided to the customer and we also video record all testing and save this electronically on our ERP system for future reference.

Electrical Motor Rewinding

At Houghton International, we comply with – and in some areas exceed – IEEE 1068 specification for electric motor rewinds and have controlled procedures and records in place to manage the electric motor rewind process. All electric motors are wound to Class F or higher thermal class, upgrading the insulation quality, where beneficial, to our HiFLEX coil design.

A sample electric motor rewinding work scope includes:

  1. Receive electric motor components into our facility
  2. Datum checks all parts
  3. Detail and strip stator windings
  4. Clean and prepare stator core and carry out core test
  5. Manufacture stator coils, insulated as required
  6. Carry out testing of the coils
  7. VPI impregnate stator windings if required
